This wearable art was created in collaboration with my wife Wanda for a display of fantasy fashion at the Australian Bureau of Statistics on 3 September 2002 during a cocktail party held as part of their ABSTech 2002 conference. The performance was organised by Marlene Greenwood.
The dress of silver PVC features a series of green, blue and white flashing LEDs woven into a wiring loom on the left arm, and a "talking calculator" on the wrist that speaks numbers as they are pressed and calculated. The pants were made of bubblewrap. The headpiece of aluminium and aluminised plastics includes a laser pointer aimed with the aid of orange and green "sights" that swing in and out of the line of sight of the wearer. A flashing red LED projects a beam from the parabolic dish on the right hand side. |
