High Flight
This work was commissioned in 2006 by a collector in the USA who saw my earlier work To Slip the Surly Bonds of Earth, and asked if I would create a smilar work for her. She was familiar with the poem High Flight and wanted this as a gift to her partner whose uncle had been a pilot in the Second World War.

The wings are made from layers of 0.5 mm steel and the support from hot forged steel. The base is nodular limestone from South Australia.

Height 25 cm.
